Massive Condemnation in Lebanon of Israel’s Crime

31/05/2010 The Israeli massacre of at least 20 activists on board the Gaza-bound aid ship drew widespread condemnations in Lebanon.

HEZBOLLAH MP: IF THEY FAIL TO ACT TO LIF THE GAZA SIEGE, SITUATION IN REGION WILL GET WORSE
Hezbollah MP Hasan Fadlallah denounced the Israeli massacre as a "crime against humanity" and called on the international community to take action.
"This is a premeditated crime against humanity by the Israelis," Fadlallah told AFP. "This crime illustrates to the world Israel's savagery and the way they deal with unarmed civilians," he added.
Fadlallah said that the activists detained following the raid should be considered hostages and the UN Security Council and international community must act quickly to denounce Israel's actions.
"If they fail to act quickly to lift the siege on the Palestinians (in Gaza) and to denounce Israel for its crimes as well as save the hostages, the situation in the region will get worse," he warned.

The Amal Movement expressed outrage at “the bloody crime committed by the Israeli commandos in international waters at the direct order of the enemy state PM and his minister of war.” The Amal Movement statement called on all national and Islamic forces for an emergency meeting to organize a popular action and press Arab and Islamic governments and peoples to boycott Israel.”

For his part, Information Minister Tareq Mitri issued a statement saying that “Israel today has added to its crimes against the Palestinian people, a new crime that targets those defending this people and supporting their freedom and their right to live decently.” “We are united in solidarity with the Palestinian people against Israel’s violence and we demand the international community condemn Israel and force it to respect the international law,” the statement added.

LEBANESE HANI SLEIMAN ONE OF THE INJURED
The Baath party in Lebanon said that the “ugly crime committed by the Zionists against civilian volunteers who wanted to help the Gazans, confirms the aggressive and barbaric nature of this usurping entity.”

The National Initiative to Break the Blockade on Gaza condemned in a statement the “Zionist crime against the Freedom convoy” and lashed out at Israel saying “it has committed a new terrorist crime against humanity and blatantly breached the international law.” The statement added that “initial reports said that one of the injured was Hani Sleiman, the Lebanese coordinator of one of the ships and the one of the founders of the Initiative Committee.” The statement called on the UN Security Council to hold an emergency meeting “to repel Zionist crimes.”

PIRATES OF THIS ERA COMMIT UNPRECEDENTED WAR CRIME
For his part, Tawhid Party member Hisham A’war, called in a statement for Lebanese, Arab, and international action to respond to the “Zionist pirates of this era” who have committed an “unprecedented war crime against the Freedom flotilla which was en rout to save besieged Gaza.”
The Tawhid Party is headed by former minister Wiam Wahhab.

The head of the National Dialogue Party, Fouad Makhzoumi, condemned the Israeli aggression. “This aggression should not pass without a response, otherwise all the humane principles will fall in front of Israel’s barbarity.”

Meanwhile, the Druze Religious Authority Sheikh Naim Hasan denounced the Israeli attack as “a crime against humanity and international law.” “What Israel has done today and led to the martyrdom of dozens of free men and women is a shameful completion of the blockade, the occupation, and the aggression on Gaza and the Palestinian people.”
